Why It's Grease Lightnin'!

Do you recognise that line? It's a famous line from Grease. I am so excited to be going to the local theatre and opera house here in town. If you live in or near the Wichita Falls area and have not visited The Wichita Theatre.....you are missing out. I really enjoy going. Tonight, my sister and I are going to watch Grease. I will probably be singing along driving the person next to me crazy.

Then tomorrow is a birthday party for one of our little cousins in the family...Jared. He is having a party out at the grandparents house. We will have a great weekend filled with swimming and a trip to the movie theater to see G-Force (the little movie with the guinea pigs). I hope you all have a fabulous weekend.

Feel Good Wednesday #18

I think I'm kind of going with the same "theme" this week as I did last week. I guess I am hoping God will see these songs I'm adding and finally pull me out of this rut I seem to be in. Last week I mentioned that I'm not angry at God about anything. I guess I should expand on that. Previously this year, I admit it, I was a little mad. I think we can all get angry at God about things. But I hope it doesn't last long with you. I try not to. He will quickly remind me that He is in control and He knows exactly what He is doing. We just need to trust Him. I'm not sure why I've been in a rut. I'm not disappointed, sad, depressed, etc. about anything. I guess I just need a refreshing touch from God. I'm ready for things to let lose at church. I think there are a lot of people in a rut at church lately. Should I even be saying that? I'm not trying to judge people. I'm really talking/typing a lot it seems today. I'm just sharing my mind....Anyways. I am excited about what is to come for our church. We have purchased an existing building and will be adding another building to that. I can't wait to have a church building. I can't wait to have a revival. I need it. We have prayer services on Sunday nights. I have really enjoyed these prayer times. It has allowed me to stop what I'm doing and pray. This Sunday night I felt like I just needed to rejoice! Rejoice for what is to come, what God has done for me, and what He is doing for those around me.

Ok, I hope you didn't mind my little talk session above. Here's the song for today.

Pull Me Out by Bebo Norman

Tell me now, when does this start feeling
Like I understand everything I'm dealing with
First I was young, now it's all just happening
And what about the way I said that
Made you turn around and shake your head
Like I don't even know what I'm asking for

This could be all about just letting go
Or this could be all about just holding on

Chorus:
I can't get my feet off of the ground
I want to run but I don't know how
Can you reach down here and pull me out, can you pull me out, yeah
I want to scream but there's no sound
I want to fly to you somehow
Can you reach me here and pull me out, can you pull me out, yeah

Remember when I was young and hungry
I could take it in without much money
I had nothing at all but dreams and time to kill
Now I feel like I'm treading water
And I'm hardly real, I'm just trying harder
To make my way on the earth by standing still

This could be all about just letting go
Or this could be all about just holding on

Chorus

Not a moment too soon, you will be my rescue
But tell me how long will it take

I can't get my feet off of the ground
I want to run but I don't know how
Can you reach down here and pull me out, can you pull me out, yeah
I want to scream but there's no sound
I want to fly to you somehow
Can you reach me here and pull me out, can you pull me out, yeah

I hope you have a Happy Feel Good Wednesday. I may be doing the next FGW a little early. I have a retreat to go to for the United Way. More about that later. Just be prepared if the Happy Feel Good Wednesday is actually on a Tuesday or something. Thanks for sticking with me today.

Feel Good Wednesday #17

Do you ever feel dry in your relationship with God? Do you ever feel like you don't have the right words to pray? Like you have no idea what to say? Like you're an empty well just waiting to be filled? Do you just wish sometimes God would come and just move you to where He wants you to go? Do you ever feel like you wish God would just simply sweep over you like a cool breeze?

I have noticed that it doesn't take very long to fill like the above. One day you may be singing and praising Him, one day you may be on your knees praying and feeling His presence....and then the next day you just feel empty. That is exactly how I have been feeling lately. Totally honest there. I don't feel angry at God about anything. I guess I have just become boringly content. Does that even make sense there? Maybe that was the wrong 2 words to put together. Is boringly even a word? Haha I digress...anyways...I think we all feel like this at one point or maybe even many points in our lives. I am speaking for myself here, but I think I just allow myself to become too lazy or too busy and totally overlook what I really should be doing. Like instead of sleeping in, I should be getting up and praying. I have not been doing a good job about that. It's time to wake up! It's time to quit being lazy! It's time to quit allowing other things in our schedules to get in the way of our relationship with God.

Once again as I was driving to work today "the" song was played. I like our local christian radio station because they play songs I haven't heard before. I hope the words of this blog and this song do something for you today as it has done for me. I pray that I will wake up and allow God to move or at least move me.

Lord move, or move me
by FFH - Found a Place

I can't find the words to pray
I'm a little down today
Can you help me?
Can you hold me?
I feel a million miles away
And I don't know what to say
Can you hear me anyway?
What I need is for you to reach out your hand
You have taught me
No matter what you'd understand

CHORUS:
Lord move in the way, that I've never seen before
Cause there's a mountain in the way and a lock on the door
I'm drifting away, waves are crashing on the shore
So Lord move (move), or move me.

I've looked everywhere to find
A simple peace of mind
I can't find nothing on my own
So I got to leave myself behind
Take up this cross of mine
Give away everything I hold onto
Lord I know the only way is through this
But Lord I know I need you to help me do this

CHORUS

Out of this place of complacency
To a place of fellowship with thee
Cause I am weak but Lord you are so strong
And you know it's been way too long (been way too long)
Lord move in the way, that I've never seen before
Cause there's a mountain in the way and a lock on the door
I'm drifting away, waves are crashing on the shore
So Lord move (move)...CHORUS

John 10:7-10 (KJV)
Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Venturing out and sharing my hobby

For a couple of months now I have been working on a new hobby. At first I thought I'd only do this for my own benefit; but now I'm thinking more about trying to make a little money off of it. If you would be interested in a necklace for yourself or to buy as a gift I would love to make one of these for you. I'm going to set my starting price for these at $25/necklace. Please don't look at the freckles or double chin in these pictures. I need to find a better model.

Sprucing Up!

Do you notice a change to my blog?! Doesn't it look awesome. I can say it looks awesome because I did not do it. Haha A sweet blogger friend of mine, Shelley, did this for me today. Isn't she the sweetest thing?! I'm giving her a shout-out. Shelley, you are a sweet, awesome, Christian woman. I'm so glad we are blogger friends! And I'm so glad I found you through Summer.

Shelley has inspired me. She runs marathons people! I'm not sure I will ever say I have ran a marathon but still she is an inspiration. She also went on a missions trip this summer to Honduras. Wow! Her posts melted my heart as she summarized her trip.

I could go on and on. But Shelley, thanks so much for sprucing up my blog! I promise there will be a Feel Good Wednesday song this Wednesday. Uh hum, you need to become a follower of my blog. *wink*

Lucky number 7

This weekend we celebrated Logan's 7th birthday. I can't believe how fast these years have gone by. Before I know it, I will blink my eyes and he will be driving or graduating from H.S. Ok, I can't think that way. I will get all teary eyed.

We couldn't decide what we wanted to do for him as far as a party goes because I had a full schedule on Saturday and Sunday (his birthday) his mom was going to pick him up for a few hours. So Wes and I decided that a trip to The Plex would be a good idea. We loaded up 3 boys that go to church with us and headed that way.
There is Samuel (our pastor's son age 6), Logan, Jered and Carsyn (brothers and I want to say that they are 10 and 5 but I could be wrong). Carsyn doesn't look too happy but I think this is his camera face. He is always a happy boy.
The first thing Logan and and Carsyn did was head for the slide. Wes said "That's ok, let them play on the free stuff." Haha
Wes and Jered took off to play with the big boy games.

Logan finally got out of the slide and enjoyed spending some tokens with Samuel. Then it was time to head outside in the 100+ heat to watch some of the guys/boys ride go-carts. Logan and Samuel chose to sit this one out. They don't know what they are missing! I love go-carts but decided I would sit this one out too.
Now if you think this happens all the time with Jered and Carsyn, you're kidding yourself. Right, Stephanie? No, they are good kids. Very sweet.
I love Carsyn's eyes in this one. He looks like he is thinking "Are you sure I should be riding with this crazy man?!"
Then look at how much fun he is having with Wes. I believe Wes and Carsyn came in first place. I'm sure Carsyn was saying in his cute little Texan accent "Make it go faster, Wes!"
Samuel and Logan are missing out. I was too!
Here's all 3 coming around the last corner. Wes is trying to spin Jered out...again. Yes, Wes and Carsyn had already spun Jered out once before. Jered wasn't too thrilled about being beat by his little brother...and Wes.
We finally headed back to home to go eat at Ken's Pizza. On our way there I told the (loud) boys that we were going to be good and "eat, drink and be merry" and Carsyn said "You're already married Tonya!" Hahaha That kid cracks me up!
We ordered 2 large pizza's for all the boys and Wes. I had my own mini pizza. All of the pizza was gone by the time we left Ken's that night. This definitely made me feel sorry for my friends Summer and Stephanie who both are going to have 3 growing boys to feed. I'll be saying many prayers for you women!

I would say that Logan had a great, last minute birthday get together. I am glad Logan has some wonderful friends who could come along and enjoy his birthday outing.

Feel Good Wednesday #16

Feel Good Wednesday is back! I was so excited to finally feel refreshed and have a song for you guys this morning. I still need to share some pictures of our vacation and stories but I'll try to work on that later this week or next week.

After our vacation last week and God showing me that I need to surrender and to keep rejoicing Him.....things have seemed so joyful. I didn't mention the cd of Otto, the missionary, talking about rejoicing God even in difficult times, the other day. That was an awesome cd as well. If you would like a copy of these 2 cd's in particular, send me a comment or an email with your email or address (if I don't have them) and I will be more than happy to share these 2 cd's with you.

I stumbled across a new group this week. They are called Jesus Culture. The band plays at all the Jesus Culture ministry conferences. Have any of you heard of them or seen them live? I watched almost all of their videos that were available on youtube the other day. To watch them worship is amazing! You can really tell that they are not putting on a show but are being very sincere in their worship and praise to God. I want more and more of this kind of worship to be put forth by our church, by our generation. I can't help but want to see this, to feel this kind of worship!!! This has definitely been one of my prayers lately. I listened to this song on my Ipod this morning and felt so much joy! God was definitely driving with me to work this morning. People probably thought I was crazy. Haha I was getting into it. I LOVE to sing. I may not be the best but I enjoy it and I do it for God. Isn't that what matters? To worship and praise God. I know He enjoys it as well.

If you would like some free downloads of their songs or even chords and lyrics click here. And remember, if you would like a copy of the missionary, Otto Coning, cd's on Surrendering and Rejoicing then send me a comment or email (including your contact info. if I don't have it).

Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.
~ Romans 12:12, NLT
