"B" is for bargain

I have been searching and searching for the perfect "B" to go up on a shelf (that I still need to put up) in my living room. After no luck I decided to take matter in my own hands. So for $4.08 (not including the glue) I made my own "B".

"B" is for Bohannon....and BARGAIN

The colors may be hard to figure out. But they are a red, goldish yellow and green.

For those of you who may want to know how I made this or what I used. Here is the 411. First I went to one of my favorite stores, Hobby Lobby, and purchased the plain white "B" for $2.99. Then I went to Michael's for scrapbook paper ($.59), craft paint ($.50), and Mod Podge ($10.99 for 8 oz.). I spent more money (wished I had a 40% coupon handy) on the Mod Podge but it is something I can use over and over. And for those of you who are wondering "What's Mod Podge?!" Oh my heavens!!! You really should click here. This stuff is amazing! Be sure to check out all the projects you can do with it also. Fantastic. Ok, back to the 411. There are several different kinds of Mod Podge. I used the kind for paper since I would be using scrapbook paper. I first traced the "B" onto my scrapbook paper and painted the sides of the wooden "B" with my craft paint. This part took the longest because I had to let all my coats of paint dry. Then I cut my traced "B" out of the scrapbook paper. Now I was ready to use my Mod Podge. I put a thin coat (but not too thin) on the back and then stuck it on my wooden "B".....let it dry...then put a coat on top of the decorative side of the scrapbook paper....let it dry...and repeated another coat. So there you go...."B" is for bargain. A $4.08 "B" (not including the glue)!

Feel Good Wednesday #23

He has brought me through all the struggles and trials. When I am at the door of these trials, how hard is it to see that I will make it through? When the door is opening and I'm walking through it, the journey seems so long and difficult. But I am thankful that God is and will be right beside me through all those trials, all those journeys. His time on the cross, He knew the loss I'd have, the trials I'd have, the miles of journeys I would take. He knew I would need Him. He knew that there would be some trials in my life that would be unbearable, that I'd need a Savior. I would walk through all the doors of pain every time if it means I will get to close the door and say God brought me through it....and then the final door.....I'll get to in Heaven, He will say "Well done, thy good and faithful servant!"

I heard this song, I'd Need a Savior by Among the Thirsty weeks ago. I fell in love with it but my playlist didn't have it. Finally, it's on youtube. Hallelujah! :) I hope you enjoy it.




I hope you hear these words and know that He knew you would need a Savior too. I hope that makes you feel refreshed in your journey as you walk through your "door".

Our steps are ordered...

Do you ever have that feeling that God has forgotten you? I'm like "hello God, have you forgotten me over here?!!" I've had that feeling too many times. But He has never forgotten me. It's just what the enemy is wanting me to think. Today I had lunch with a few women from my church and it was just what I needed. As we prayed over our meal, I prayed that God would let me hear what I needed to hear, even if it was difficult to accept, and to let my heart receive it.

I will not share the entire discussion but here are the thoughts I got from our lunch today....

Ok, so sometimes life doesn't go the way you want it to go. You try to plan your life out, take shortcuts to get here or there faster, then find out that it didn't work out so well. There are things that I want for my life and my family. I will admit something about myself, I like to control things. Some of you who are reading this may be giggling to yourself and saying "I knew that already!". But really. I want things to happen how and when I want them to happen. Most the time, right away. Are you that way? And often times I want the order of events to be in the order I want them to be in. For example, it would be like having a honeymoon before the wedding. That's not the order it needs to go in but sometimes you just want to go have some fun at a beach somewhere and just be married already. I have to remember that God knows the plans (Jeremiah 29:11). These are HIS plans. He knows the desires of our hearts also...because HE placed them there. I get angry when things don't go as I planned them. But I shouldn't because the plans for my life are not mine, they are God's. I have to stop and say "Ok, God. You have something far GREATER planned out for my life if I will just shut up, stop, and allow you to order my steps." I need to forget about all the things I want for my life and put my focus on Him and what He wants me to do and sooner or later I will take a look back and see that it had all happened...in His order and FAR BETTER than I had ever hoped or dreamed!

"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand." Psalms 37:23

This song I chose today is one we sing at our church for praise and worship. As I heard it on the radio this morning it made me remember how wonderful our God is. He is FOREVER faithful to us. He is FOREVER there for us. He will FOREVER love us even when we are so unworthy to be loved. And it's so great to know that...when WE are weak, HE is strong. (1 Corinthians 4:10)

A beautiful reminder...

As I drove to work this morning I saw a perfect reminder of God's promises to us. I just wanted to share. I hope you have a blessed day and can remember God STILL holds true to His promises.

Hog huntin'

If only I had time to have taken a picture, you too would have seen the wild hog I almost hit while driving to Wichita Falls Saturday morning. My friend Tosca and I took a shopping trip Saturday starting out at 7:30 in the morning. So of course we had to make a trip to Starbucks. On the way, we were about to be into town when all of a sudden I see this animal darting out from the grassy fence line. It happened so fast! At first I thought it was a dog so I start to slow down. Then Tosca starts laughing as I scream "Oh my word, that's a wild hog!!!". I didn't know if I should slow down or speed up it happened so quickly. The hog seriously dodged me. I almost had me a wild hog to take home to Wes. He would have been proud since he has taken up this new hobby himself earlier this year, only not with his vehicle. If only you had been a fly in the car with me and Tosca. We laughed so hard. What a way to start out the morning. I do have to include that it was our day to see animals. First it was the wild hog, later that morning we saw 2 deers and a baby deer, and then finally that evening another deer on the side of the road. I'm just glad the deer decided to stay put.

All over the place

I had a friend send me a nice, short email today. Her email simply asked "Are you just blogging on Wednesday's now?". I had to laugh. I came back and looked at my blog. I have pretty much only been blogging on Wednesdays. I'm sorry blogger friends. I feel like I have let you down. But honestly, I forget I have blogger friends who even read my posts because I am posting for me. Does that make sense?

Anyways, I feel like my head has been all over the place lately. I've been so busy it seems. Busy is good, but not if you neglect the ones you love. I have been trying to focus more on my family. Family time is very important. Within the last month I have: gone on a 3-day retreat for United Way, gone back home (2 hrs away) to visit my Dad and then a couple of my girlfriends I grew up with, started back to the gym doing spin class, cut out all cokes and french fries, gone to various United Way meetings, made necklaces, and accepted a part time position (will start in September) working in a merchandise booth for the local hockey team. All of these things I have been excited about but at times I feel a little overwhelmed. I think it is good to have new adventures in life. I think it's good to have goals to set for yourself. And you KNOW I think it's good to have hope for what the future has to hold.

This year has been flying by. Just the other day I realized it is August already. It seems like just yesterday it was January. It's time to move on. It's time to live victoriously! It's time to let the past be the past and move forward on to greater things God has in store for me.

Years ago Dr. Harold Wolff, professor of medicine at Cornell University Medical College and associate professor of psychiatry, said, "Hope, like faith and a purpose in life, is medicinal. This is not a statement of belief, but a conclusion proved by meticulously controlled scientific experiment." When hope dies, despair will overwhelm us. Hope is both biologically and psychologically vital to us. Men and women must have hope--and true hope comes only from Christ. He gives us hope for the future as we turn in faith to Him--hope for eternity, and hope right now.

Feel Good Wednesday #21

Sunday night I was so glad I made it to church. Clifton did a wonderful job at giving God's Word. Clifton caught me on this one line...my "a-ha moment". He said "We should not be stale if we have tasted the living water." So true! Of course it is difficult at times to be where we should be with Christ....but He is the I AM. He is the bread of life. He is the Word. He is the good shepherd. There is never a time when the shepherd abandons the sheep. He is the door. He is the way, truth, & the life. (John 14:6) He is more than all these things! He is our joy, our peace, our hope, our strength, our victory! He can be all this and more if we let Him.
